Forde

«Forde's mission is to organize exhibitions outside of commercial or institutional constraints. In order to do so, Forde receives a subsidy from the Department of cultural affairs of the City of Geneva. This financial backing allows Forde to pursue programming independently from any other existing structures. The subsidy amounts to CHF 72 000 per year. The management of this amount is left to the complete discretion of the curator / curatorial team but must cover all of Forde's activities, including salaries if they are needed.
Every two years the committee names one or more curators who are entrusted with the complete management of the space:
programming, administration and maintenance. The person(s) selected are thus granted full authority to handle the activities of the space for a period of two years. The committee, which is composed of the previous curators and artists, limits its activity to controlling the accounts and has no right to intervene regarding the content of the exhibitions or events. The director(s) is obliged to contribute to the associative life of l'Usine, by attending its weekly meetings, abiding to the building's ethical charter (see www.usine.ch) and the requirements established by the committee.
Since its creation, eleven curatorial teams have been in charge of Forde. The programs proposed have been extremely varied, establishing each time their own working methods, their relations with different scenes. In 20 years, more than 100 events ranging from solo, group and thematic exhibitions, film projections, concerts, performances and workshops have been organized, sometimes in collaboration with other cultural organizations, from inside and outside l'Usine.»Quelle: Ausschreibung Leitung, März 2014 [GE_Genf_2014_Forde_Ausschreibung_Leitung_03.2014](Quelle: Michelle Nicol: «Vo Lozärn gäge Wäggis zue.
